Today was our Top 5 photo shoot (although one of our models dropped out due to personal reasons…we’ll still call it Top 5)

Jenny Z. from the Betsey Johnson Georgetown store came by with her entourage and a ton of great clothes to dress our models…

They wasted no time at all getting the “It-Girl” contestants fitted up and ready to shoot…

Working with photographer Charles Butler was a really great experience. He really understood the look that we were going for.

Now that we have received all of the entries for our “It-Girl” contest, it’s time for the next phase! After some deliberation, we will be posting our top favorites (approximately 20) for YOU to vote on! You guys will choose a top five for us and that’s when the competition will really heat up!

The Top Five models will come in to the salon for styling and a shoot to level the playing field. From there, once again, you guys will vote for your favorites, eliminating one per week until one finalist is left. She will be crowned Roche Salon’s “It-Girl”!

If you hadn’t already noticed the links on the other pages of the site, we are proud to say that we are hosting our first annual “It-Girl” model search! This project has been an idea that we have been tossing around for years with no real action put to it, until this year when we finally decided to make it a reality!

For those who might be curious about what exactly this contest is all about, let me explain.

Models, Hairstylists, Fashion Designers and Makeup Artists are the four pieces to the puzzle we call the beauty industry. When they all come together, it creates a beautiful synergy that can be viewed and appreciated by all. After all, beauty is something we all strive for when we wake up in the morning isn’t it? If you think we don’t, then explain to me why every single person out there reading this sneaks a peek at themselves every time they walk past a mirror (or a storefront window with a nice bit of glare).

For a long time now, Roche Salon has worked hard to push for collaboration between all of these parts of the industry by working on as many different types of mediums that we could. Fashion shows, charity events, hair shows, photo shoots, promotional galas; you name it we’ve done it. For us this is the best way to express ourselves freely and creatively with little to no rules, yet at the end of the day, also helps us stay grounded when it’s time to meet our first client on Tuesday morning.

Now, anyone who’s worked in a group setting knows that the best work happens when everyone in the group is comfortable with each other due to past experiences and a good mesh of personalities. This is definitely the case in the beauty industry as well!

Our aim for the “It-Girl” contest is simple. We want to find a model that fits our salon’s image and personality just right. Then we want to work with her on many occasions so that we can all push the envelope and build our skills together as a cohesive group. In the end, we’ll all end up with the greatest experience under our belts and the tear sheets to show for it! Not to mention that the new “It-Girl” will be walking away with a ton of really awesome prizes!

So for anyone out there who is an up and coming model, or knows one who is working her butt off, I say, “Give it a shot!” For anyone out there who thinks that this is going to be a lot of fun well then you’d better keep watching.

In approximately three weeks time expect to see the voting page up and running so YOU all get to choose the next Roche Salon “It-Girl”!

Apologies to anyone who has tried to request an appointment through our new website and has not gotten through!
We are having some technical difficulties with the new form communicating with our email system.

Never fear! We’ve got our entire Network Security department collaborating with our Tech Support department to get this fixed.
